Composer, developer, and sound explorer
Joel Janson Johansen is a composer and creative developer based in Stockholm, working at the intersection of sound, code, and interaction. With a master's degree in composition and over a decade of programming experience, he creates work that spans electroacoustic music, music for acoustic ensembles, and experimental web applications.
He currently teaches courses on AI and creative coding, performs in collaborative music projects such as COLLEAGUES, and builds tools for audio and video manipulation — often exploring how technology can become an expressive, intuitive medium.
Outside of composing, teaching, and building strange digital things, he enjoys photography, editorial design, and thinking about the aesthetics of analog media. Talk to him about browser-based instruments, his notoriously bad social media presence, or what you've recently become obsessed with.
